About Kousaido

Kousaido is an incense house based in central Kyoto. Their fragrances represent the smells and refinement of that place, with aqua, pine and other scents that can mist their way into a room. Presented in neat boxes with Japanese motifs, Kousaido's incense is a method to be transported to Kyoto.

About Kungyokudo

In the third year of the Bunroku era (1594), Kungyokudo, a long-established incense company, opened in front of Nishi Honganji temple and they served as an apothecary. From that time, they have been serving many temples, Buddhist establishments, and ceremonies across Japan. With more than 420 years history of heritage, Kungyokudo is Japan’s oldest incense manufacturer - making their scents for ceremonies and everyday life of each era.
